Private law universities in India occupy a unique and often misunderstood position in the scholarship landscape. On one hand, their fees are significantly higher than NLUs . On the other hand, precisely because they are private and fee-dependent, many of these universities have built surprisingly robust internal scholarship systems to attract top talent and retain students who face financial hardship mid-course.

This article covers five of India’s leading private law universities and for each, breaks down university aid, external aid, and government aid in detail.

1. Nirma University, Ahmedabad:

Nirma University offers a structured scholarship scheme for law students, providing financial support through merit-based and merit-cum-means categories to recognise academic excellence and support deserving candidates.
