CLAT TIE BEAKER

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) uses a tie-breaker rule to rank candidates who have the same score. The tie-breaker rule is as follows:

  • Higher marks in the Legal Aptitude section: For undergraduate (UG) candidates, the candidate with the highest score in the Legal Aptitude section is ranked higher.
  • Older candidate preference: The older candidate is ranked higher.

Computerized drawings of lots: If the above two parameters are also identical, computerized drawings of lots are used to break the tie.

Eligibility

  1. There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing for UG Programme through the CLAT 2024.
  2. Candidates must secure the following minimum percentage of marks in their qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination):

    2. Forty Percent (40%) marks or equivalent in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
  3. Candidates who may be appearing for their qualifying examination in March/ April 2024 are also eligible to appear for the CLAT 2024 examination. However, they shall be required to produce evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.
  4. The result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission, failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the course they may have applied for.
