Courses Details

1. B.A., LL.B. (H) Five Year Course

The 5-year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) programme has an intake of 120 students, and offers a strong foundation of the social sciences and arts and humanities as the basis of learning, practicing, and excelling in law and the legal discipline. This programme blends courses in economics, sociology, history, political science, philosophy, and others with courses in law. This integrated programme is designed to train students into becoming innovative, socially conscious, empathetic, and well-rounded legal professionals with a grounding in social and cultural realities. Additionally, students will be offered various opportunities to apply their knowledge and the learning outcomes from the multi-disciplinary coursework to real-life scenarios through mooting, clinical legal education, group projects, internships, and Readiness at Workplace (RAW) modules.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

Three special Birla Scholarships for Legal Studies will be awarded to four law aspirants who are offered admission to BITSLAW –

  • G.D. Birla Scholarship for Legal Studies – The scholarship encourages students to continue on a path of academic and extracurricular excellence, helping them make their mark on the legal field and beyond.

    It will be awarded to two students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance, co/extra-curricular achievements, and have attained top scores in the admissions process for BITS Law School. The G.D. Birla Scholarship for Legal Studies is a 100% tuition fee waiver and it will be awarded in each year of the 5-year law programme, subject to ‘Note – 4’.

  • K.K. Birla Scholarship for Legal Studies – The scholarship recognises and supports students who have demonstrated a strong passion for legal education, enabling them to fulfil their aspirations of becoming legal professionals who will lead a positive change in society.

    It will be awarded to one student who has been an exceptional performer in a competitive, All-India Law Entrance Test for admission in a five-year integrated law programme. The following law entrance tests will be considered for this award – Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), Law National Aptitude Test (LNAT), Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) , Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law (MH CET Law) and All India Law Entrance Test (AILET).

    The K.K. Birla Scholarship for Legal Studies is a tuition fee waiver of up to 75% and it will be awarded in each year of the 5-year law programme, subject to ‘Note – 4’.

  • Sarala Birla Scholarship for Legal Studies – The scholarship encourages and supports women who wish to pursue legal education, become leaders in their field, and will contribute to making a powerful and positive change through legal practice and research.

    It will be awarded to one meritorious woman student who is passionate about being a change maker through legal research and/or law practice. The Sarala Birla Scholarship for Legal Studies is a tuition fee waiver of up to 75% and it will be awarded in each year of the 5-year law programme, subject to ‘Note – 4’.

    In addition to the special Birla Scholarships for Legal Studies, three other scholarships will be awarded to law aspirants who are granted admissions to BITSLAW.

  • Merit & Means Based Scholarship – The scholarship ensures that deserving students are not held back from receiving high quality legal education at BITS Law School due to financial constraints. Additionally, it aims to empower and uplift our students to pursue their passions and reach their full potential.

    To be eligible for the Merit & Means Based scholarship, the student’s annual family income (parents’/guardians’) must not be more than INR 18,00,000. The merit of the student will be holistically assessed through their BITS Law School application form, including co/extra-curricular achievements, and their personal interview.

    The Merit & Means Based Scholarship is a tuition fee waiver of up to 90% and it will be awarded in each year of the 5-year law programme, subject to ‘Note – 4’.

  • Academic Merit Scholarship – The scholarship recognises and supports high-performing, well rounded students who have demonstrated a clear passion for legal education and a strive for excellence.

    It will be awarded to selective students who have demonstrated exceptional academic performance in their board examinations i.e. grade 10 and grade 12, have performed excellently in a law entrance test, and have displayed noteworthy co/extra-curricular achievements. The law entrance tests considered for this award are – BITS Law Admissions Test, Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), Law National Aptitude Test (LNAT), Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT), All India Law Entrance Test (AILET), and Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law (MH CET Law).

    All students are considered by default for the Academic Merit Scholarship. The Academic Merit Scholarship is a tuition fee waiver of up to 75% and it will be awarded in each year of the 5-year law programme, subject to ‘Note – 4’.

  • Diversity Scholarship – The scholarship helps create an inclusive and diverse community of legal professionals i.e. a community of changemakers who will drive progress and innovation in the legal industry while contributing to the development of the society at large.

    It will be awarded to exceptional women and third gender* students, students from underrepresented regions**, and students with physical disabilities, as described in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

    The Diversity Scholarship is a tuition fee waiver of up to 75% and it will be awarded in each year of the 5-year law programme, subject to ‘Note – 4’.

    *includes Transgender, Genderfluid, Gender Non-Binary, Gender Non-Confirming, and Gender Queer persons

Additionally, students will be offered various opportunities to apply their knowledge and the learning outcomes from the multi-disciplinary coursework to real-life scenarios through mooting, clinical legal education, group projects, internships, and Readiness at Workplace (RAW) modules.

Hostel Accommodation

BITS Law School aims to provide a vibrant and enriching living experience that fosters personal growth and academic success. Our exceptional student residences are situated in close proximity to the interim campus at Hiranandani Knowledge Park, Powai; and offers an array of amenities designed to help students thrive during their time at the BITS Law School. Includes a fully furnished, air-conditioned, shared apartment (among 2-5 students), individual study table, chair, and whiteboard, Hi-speed Wi-Fi, shared microwave and fridge, dining – breakfast, lunch*, and dinner (*lunch and evening snacks will be served on-campus). Additional Student Services include: Shuttle service to and from campus, 24*7 security guards and CCTV coverage and daily housekeeping.

Overall, the student residences are designed to provide a comfortable, safe, and conducive living and learning environment for students. Additionally, stores for daily needs, a supermarket, and a pharmacy are within 100 meters of the residences. Some common amenities: Gym area with high-quality equipment, Outdoor garden with sports facilities – Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton, Mess area and Laundry. All common amenities will be shared with other residents of the apartment complex.

 

Future Campus:

Designed by renowned architect Hafeez Contractor, our upcoming, zero-carbon footprint campus is spread over a lush 60 acres in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and will be home to students from 2025 onwards. Our pedestrian-friendly campus will have everything one expects and more – a fully residential facility, an auditorium, a sports pavilion and club, and plazas and courtyards with eye-catching landscaping.

We believe in putting no limits to our students’ imagination. Our state-of-the-art campus with facilities such as tech-enabled libraries, centres for incubation, and research excellence centres will provide students with the infrastructural support to expand their knowledge without any constraints. The residential space is stylish and designed keeping in mind students’ comfort, making it their home away from home.

Admission Procedure

BITSLAW will announce details for its entrance examination at the beginning of Round 2. Applicants in Round 1 will need to submit latest scores for any one of these entrance examinations – CLAT, LSAT-India, AILET, or MH CET Law for 5-year LL.B. Students seeking scholarships are encouraged to apply early.

We evaluate only complete applications. Unfinished, incomplete, or incorrectly filled applications will not be considered.

To avoid submitting an application with errors or wrong information due to a last day rush, we encourage you to submit your application well before the application deadline.

You may apply once per application year.

Eligibility:

Completed grade 12 or equivalent from a recognised board with a cumulative score of at least 45%.

BITS Law Admissions Test/CLAT/LSAT-India/AILET/MH CET Law entrance test score

Note: Applicants yet to receive their final grade 12 and/or law entrance exam scores are eligible to apply and will be expected to indicate in their application form that they are awaiting their results. An application will be considered complete only once all relevant scores have been shared.
